Die “Masterdrummers of Nepal” spielen newarische Prozessionsmusik, nämlich Dhimaybaja.

This ensemble consists of eight musicians and dancers, including teachers and students at the Kathmandu University Department of Music. The group performs two vibrant forms of Newar drumming, a ritual ensemble of drums (navabaja) accompanied by shawms, flutes, natural trumpets and cymbals, and an ensemble of processional drumming (dhimay drums and cymbals) and several traditional dances of Bhaktapur.

  2. It was very nice idea to organize music groups to play their music without disturbing each other. They walk crossing each other while playing. Whole city was filled by music and musicians. On 2nd May was another great chance to play a drum while being on the boat. Such a opportunity very few musicians get in their lives. 3rd May, I still remember many music groups playing on the mountain, from many different directions while climbing to the holy church. All the events were most valuable for us and we will remember it for a long days to come.
Thank to all of them who were involve to organize such a wonderful event.
