Die Auswahl der Musikgruppen war, meiner Meinung nach, sehr gut gewählt. Wirklich interessant und außergewöhnlich, etwas ganz einmaliges in Linz. Auch das “Bewegt sein” als Musiker, nicht an eine Bühne gebunden zu sein, bringt eine viel engere Bindung zum Publikum. Publikum und Musiker verschmolzen auf interessante Weise (eigentlich etwas was wir aus vielen Gelegenheiten in Afrika kennen, wo Musiker und Publikum - aktive und passive - eine Einheit bilden). Parade is a unique festival format that was very successful. The audience was treated to a performance that can never be the same again even though the same groups are involved in the same setting. Mich hätte gefreut, wenn es doch neben einer “lebenden Klanginstallation” (so nenne ich es nach meinem eigenen Empfinden) doch auch kurzes konzertantes Forum für die Musiker gegeben hätte, z.B. durch fixe Zeiten für jede Gruppe an bestimmten Orten. (Albin Paulus)
Which music group(s) did you find most interesting to meet and to perform with / play together?
In their inclusive, brotherly way, the West African drummers and frame xylophone players were instantly able to adapt to our static metre which led to incredible musical climaxes. Für mich war die Musikgruppe aus Nepal sehr eindrucksvoll. Wir haben diese Musik nicht gekannt und doch hat ein Zusammenspiel sofort sehr gut funktioniert!!! Sofort war ein gleiches Tempo, ähnlicher Rhythmus da. Alle Leute aus Nepal waren auch wirklich super super Musiker! (..) Auch das Improvisieren mit den einheimischen Musikern hat toll funktioniert. It was easier to play with Tonga. Their music has various dimensions which helped us to follow the key when we met. It’s also easy to change the key and you can still follow the rhythm. (Sekembuke & Siga)
Einige Jams waren genial, vor allem mit den Iranern unten am Fuße des Pöstlingberg vor der Schule. Aber auch mit der Tongagruppe auf der Brücke bei der Solarcity. (Albin Paulus)
How would you assess the interaction / communication / collaboration amongst the artists?
Interaktionen waren für uns minimal. Ausser ein paar oberflächlichen ‘Jam- Momenten’, aber da gefiel mir die Überlagerung der Sounds ohne Interaktion (zb. Blasmusik und Tongas) viel besser. (Balthasar Streiff / Hornroh)
Die Kommunikation nahm jeden Tag zu, beim gemeinsamen Abendessen gab es viel Austausch und Interesse von allen. (Cornelia Pesendorfer / Donau Brass)
Interaction between artists was limited in some instances by the language barrier. When it came to the performance, however, there was no need to talk and the music brought the artists together. Sometimes it would be just smiling at each other, playing together, and then nodding at each other in appreciation as the two groups went on their way, settling back into their own music. How do you assess the response / interest of the audience / public?
