Das Kulturfestival & Symposium Extra Europa wurde gestern eröffnet. Mit dabei im Programm sind hornroh aus der Schweiz die mit ihren Alphörner an der Parade teilnehmen werden.
The Culture festival & symposium Extra Europa has started yesterday. Part of its programme are hornroh from Switzerland who will join the Parade with their alpenhorns.

Alphorn-Musik auf ungewohnten Wegen.
Spätestens mit dem Film „Heimatklänge“ von Stefan Schwietert ist die „neue Schweizer Volksmusik auch hierzulande populär geworden. Und in seinem Film „Das Alphorn“ trat das Basler Alphornquartett hornroh ein erstes Mal an die Öffentlichkeit: musikalisch und technisch anspruchsvoll, experimentierfreudig und mit einer Prise Humor.
Bei der Parade übernimmt hornroh quasi den alpenländischen Counterpart für die gehende Musik aus ferneren Ländern, ohne deshalb ins Klischee zu verfallen. Im Gegenteil: Es lebe der Unterschied, der sich akustisch und visuell auch im scheinbar Vertrauten offenbaren kann! Auf das Echo der Antilopenhörner, der Balafone und Schalmeien darf man gespannt sein, aber auch auf eine neue Hörerfahrung in so unterschiedlichen Stadtlandschaften.” (aus dem Programmbuch von EXTRA EUROPA)

Hornroh presents alpenhorn music on unaccustomed tracks.
Stevan Schwierter’s film “Heimatklänge” brought the “new” Swiss folk music back into the limelight and it has gained increasing popularity in Austria ever since. It was in Schwierter’s film “Das Alphorn” that Hornroh, an alpenhorn quartet from Basle, appeared in public for the first time, showing musical and technical sophistication, a love of experimentation, and a pinch of humour.
For the PARADE, Hornroh will offer an alpine counterpart to marching music from distant countries, yet without any of the clichés. Quite the opposite is true: Hornroh celebrates the acoustic and visual differences that may appear in the seemingly familiar. Hearing the sounds of antelope horns, balaphones, and shawns echoing from urban landscapes suggests an exciting, new experience.” (source: programme book of EXTRA EUROPA)
