Parade Tag 1: Freitag, 1. Mai 2009 solarCity /Pichling ab 14:30
Die Maipromenade “Brüder zur Sonne, zur Freih(z)eit” knüpft am traditionellen Maiaufmarsch im Stadtzentrum an und startet beim “dörflichen” Maibaum-Aufstellen der Kulturinitiative OKIPS auf dem Lunaplatz in der solarCity, die für die Ambition moderner Stadtentwicklung steht. Von dort geht es in Loops und Mäandern durch die „ökologische Mustersiedlung“ an den Weikerlsee, die Freizeitarena in stadtnaher Natur, um dann in der „neuen Arbeitswelt“ einer modernen Maschinenfabrik im Südpark Pichling den Bogen zum “Tag der Arbeit” zu schließen.
Parade Day 1: Friday, 1. May 2009 solarCity from 2:30 pm
The May promenade “Brüder zur Sonne, zur Freih(z)eit” ties in with the traditional May Day Parade in the city centre and starts at Lunaplatz in the solarCity, which stands for the ambition of modern urban development. This is also the meeting place with the local cultural initiative OKIPS and its “rural customs” set up of the Maypole. From there Parade leads in loops and meanders through the “ecological sample residential area” to the Weikerlsee, the recreational nature park close to the solarCity. Finally, Parade ends up full circle in the “new working world” of a modern machine factory in Südpark Pichling, back to the “workers day” environment.

I’m sure that Linz Parade will convince both local population and communal authorities by its energy and colorfulness, and thus serve to support the process of re-establishing street culture as a vital part of Central Europe’s cultural life.
